DANCING HOUSE
A building in the most sought after empty lot in the historical centre of Prague. The former building of the land was destroyed during a bombing in 1945, and the remains of what was once in 1960. In the mid 1990s the German bank ING decides to finance the contruction of an office building and gives the design to Czech Vlado Milunic but on condition he can work with someone architect "World Famous". Milunic finally works with Frank Gehry and planning in this small plot of about 491 square meters an office building that resembles a pair of dancers dancing near the Vltava River. For the construction of the Building took 99 panels of reinforced concrete, all different shapes and sizes until its completion in 1996. Set in city consisting of Baroque Neo- Gothic and Art Nouveau buildings.
Ghery accepted plethora of criticism, from the fact that is seamlessly fits into historical context and also by the fact that that many lintels of windows are not internal to the correct height.
Despite the criticism the Dancing House remains a Building that breathes life into the History, Presence and the Future.
